A Word from Our Pastor

Rev. Amy L. Allen

Pastor Amy Allen graduated from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in May of 2007 with a Masters in Divinity Degree. She holds her undergraduate degree in Theology from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin,Texas. While she spent some time growing up in Texas and on the West Coast, Pastor Amy is at heart a Midwestern girl. With most of her extended family hailing from the state of Wisconsin, she loves cheese, beef, and the small town atmosphere. (The people at First are still working to convert her from the Green Bay Packers to the Pittsburgh Steelers when football season comes around)! By the grace of God and the call of the church, Pastor Amy was ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament at Thiel College on June 16, 2007. She was installed to the ministry of Word and Sacrament here at First Lutheran Church on June 17, 2007. She and her husband, Erik, were married in July of 2005. Erik is also a pastor in the ELCA, and is serving our neighboring parish in Leechburg, Hebron Lutheran. Their first child--a daughter, Rebecca Lynn--was born in November of 2007.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ…

It is a joy to be here at Lutheran Church in Leechburg! When I arrived here in June of 2007, the face of the congregation changed a bit. In the Fellowship Hall in our church basement there is a long line of photographs, representing pastors who have faithfully served this congregation over it’s nearly 200 years of ministry. Mine will be the first female face, and one of the younger ones in awhile at that!

Although my face may be different, however, I am dedicated to working with the people at First to continue the same great ministry that we have been doing here for so many years – proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross and is risen for the forgiveness of our sins!

If this is your church home, I am happy to be in community with you! If you don't have a church home, we hope that you will consider worshipping with us. The only way to truly know whether God is calling you to a certain place is to see for yourself! Feel free to contact me at home or the church to learn more about our beliefs, our worship, our church activities, and schedule. Better yet, feel free to stop into the church for worship or just to chat!

Yours in Christ
Pastor Amy
